About the Authors
Michael Compton
Writer A professional sports journalist for 20 years, Michael is originally from Southern California where he grew up a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Rams. Among Michael’s highlights of that era was sitting among the throng of 49,092 in attendance at Anaheim Stadium in December of 1984 for a memorable clash between the Rams and the Houston Oilers when Eric Dickerson electrified fans, gaining 215 yards on 27 carries to break O.J. Simpson’s NFL single-season rushing record. Dickerson concluded the season rushing for 2,105 yards, an NFL standard to this day. Michael became a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upon moving to Florida nearly 15 years ago, just prior to the franchise’s storied run through the 2002 playoffs which culminated with a victory under head coach Jon Gruden in Super Bowl XXXVII. This is Michael’s first season covering the goings-on at One Buc Place for Sports Media 101.
