The Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the one of the NFL's most potent passing attacks on Sunday when the Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan come to town.
Ryan, along with Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez, are averaging 292.9 passing yards per game this season. That does not bode well for the Bucs, who are allowing a NFL-worst 312.6 yards through the air.
To make matters worse, the Bucs' No. 1 cornerback – Eric Wright – has been banged up all week after he injured his Achilles last week against Carolina. Wright wasn't able to finish the game and did not practice all week until today when he participated in a limited fashion.
But head coach Greg Schiano has not ruled out Wright just yet for Sunday's game against the division leading 9-1 Falcons.
"We're going to have to wait and see,'' Schiano said. "I think he's done enough that we'll see. He's not ruled out of the game, so we're going to have to see.''
If Wright is unable to play, expect rookie Leonard Johnson, who has three interceptions this season, to take his place in the starting lineup opposite of E.J. Biggers. Fellow rookie LeQuan Lewis would then be the nickel corner.
Wright has struggled at times this season and only has one interception, but having him on the field against Atlanta will certainly help the Bucs' chances.
