When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take the field on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, they may be facing a former first-round quarterback that has started a game in nearly three years.

After suffering a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, quarterback Matt Cassel is unlikely to play against the Bucs.

"Some individuals recover faster than others," Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said, "but with the emphasis on concussions in the league, they’re making sure we do due diligence with the player’s health, making sure [Cassel's] not rushed back, so we'll see."

 

That means Brady Quinn will get the first-team reps in practice this week and appears to be in line to start against the Bucs this coming Sunday.

This may be a good thing for the Chiefs. Cassel has been struggling and leads the NFL with nine interceptions.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Quinn is a better option. The former Notre Dame star has been a colossal bust since entering the league in 2007 with the Browns. For his career, Quinn has completed only 52.5 of his passes for 1,934 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Bottom line, the Bucs shouldn't be to worried about who is going to be under center for the Chiefs. With the Atlanta Falcons sitting undefeated at 5-0, the Bucs are virtually in a must win situation if they want to keep pace in the NFC South.
