Last Meeting: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers last met the Washington Redskins in 2010 and won in a Week 14 matchup, 17-16. Quarterback Josh Freeman threw for 266 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Arrelious Benn caught four passes for a career-high 122 yards in the game.
Key Matchup on Offense:
RBs Doug Martin and LeGarrette Blount vs. LB London Fletcher – The Bucs want to be a run-first offense but so far they haven't been very successful at pounding the rock this season. Martin has struggled with breaking long runs and Blount hasn't had many opportunities to make much happen. Standing in their way this week is tackling machine London Fletcher. The hard-hitting veteran has been stuffing ball carriers for what seems like two decades now and he is still going strong. In three games this season, Fletcher already has 22 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and three passes defensed. The backs need to do their best to avoid Fletcher's wrath in order to have a successful day.
Key Matchup on Defense:
DE Michael Bennett vs. RT Tyler Polumbus – Polumbus is a four-year vet that is filling in at right tackle for Jamaal Brown, who is on PUP list. Polumbus is a big body at 6'8", but he is not very athletic. He will have a tough task blocking Tampa Bay's Michael Bennett, who played like a man possessed last week against the Cowboys. Bennett had two sacks and a forced fumble. Bennett will be looking to rattle Robert Griffin III and make him uncomfortable in the pocket. If he can do that, the Bucs have a good shot at getting back to .500.
