Last week, wide receiver Jordan Shipley was re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to take over the punt return duties for the ineffective Preston Parker.

It didn't take long for Shipley to let the job go right through his hands, literally.

After muffing a punt against Dallas that led to the Cowboys scoring three points, Shipley finds himself searching for work again. The Bucs let go of Shipley on Tuesday and signed former Bills and Chargers wide out and return man Roscoe Parrish.

Parrish, now in his ninth NFL season, spent his first seven years in the league in Buffalo before signing with San Diego last season. This offseason, Parrish joined the Raiders but didn't make the final 53-man roster.

Parrish is a former second-round pick out of the University of Miami. He has 1,622 yards in 135 career punt returns (12.0 average) with three touchdowns. Parrish also has returned 29 kickoffs for 685 yards.

As a receiver, Parrish has 134 catches for 1,502 yards and seven scores.

The Bucs are hoping Parrish still has something left in the tank after his last two seasons ended early with him on injured reserve. In 2010, Parrish broke his wrist during a November game. Last season, he broke his ankle in the first month of the season.

But if Parrish, who led the NFL is punt return average in 2007 and 2008, still has his speed then the Bucs may have finally found the right man to help their woeful return game.
