Loading ...The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have lost more than just another football game on Sunday.
Late in the second half of the 16-10 loss to the Cowboys, defensive end Adrian Clayborn was carted off the field when he got tangled up in a pile after a Gerald McCoy sack.
It appears that Clayborn's injury is serious, according to Tampa Bay Times beat reporter Stephen Holder.
An emotional Adrian Clayborn left the locker room here at Cowboys Stadium wearing a brace from the thigh to ankle on his right leg, and early indications are that his injury is quite serious, with several players suggesting it is season-ending.
If Clayborn's knee injury is indeed season-ending it would be a major blow to the Bucs' already thin defensive line. Tampa Bay is already without second-year end Da'Quan Bowers, who is currently on the PUP list recovering from an Achilles' heel injury.
This would leave the Bucs with just three true ends on the roster: Michael Bennett, who had two sacks and a forced fumble against Dallas, Daniel Te'o-Nesheim, who replaced Clayborn in the lineup, and George Johnson, who was inactive against Dallas.
Clayborn was Tampa Bay's first round pick last season and had 7.5 sacks as a rookie.
