Last Meeting:
The Panthers pummeled the Bucs last season in Week 16 by a score of 48-16. Quarterback Cam Newton threw three touchdowns and rushed for one score in that lopsided victory.

Key Matchup on Offense:
WR Mike Williams vs. CB Captain Munnerlyn – The Panthers will likely assign their top corner Chris Gamble to Vincent Jackson to try and slow him down. That would leave Munnerlyn to deal with Williams on the other side of the field. The fourth-year corner from South Carolina started a career-high 14 games last season, but had zero interceptions and only five passes defensed. Williams, who has caught 130 passes in his first two NFL seasons, has a 5-inch height advantage over Munnerlyn and should use that to his advantage. If the Bucs exploit this mismatch, it could lead to some big plays for the offense.

Key Matchup on Defense:
Bucs Linebackers vs. QB Cam Newton – As Newton goes, so do the Panthers. The 2011 Offensive Rookie of the Year is the ultimate dual threat. Newton can burn a defense with his cannon arm or run past them with his quickness and speed. The key for Tampa Bay in this game will be slowing down Newton when he decides to take off with the football. Last year, Newton rushed for 109 yards and four touchdowns in his two games against the Bucs. They can not allow him to beat them on the ground like that again. The linebackers must keep Newton contained and bring him down quickly or else it will be another long game for the Bucs.
